Corporate History
Commercial Transportation was founded in Philadelphia, PA in 1945 by Anthony Coppola, Sr. From its early single truck days, CTI has grown into a fleet of over 300 pieces of equipment. The company acquired Overland Motor Freight Co. in 1951 and to this day, bears their ICC number 2605.
In the early 1960’s, CTI converted from a local LTL carrier into a regional truck load carrier. In the 1970’s, CTI expanded into the intermodal transportation sector, servicing the import/export and Rail communities along the East Coast.
In 1985 CTI opened a nationwide brokerage and logistic operation called CTI Nationwide. The operation is located in the Chicago, Illinois area.
